TECHNOLOGY STOCKS.
Written by:  Russell Markham

I have been hard at work the last few days, putting together all the course material for the upcoming course: How To Become a Successful SMSF Wealth Creator.

One interesting observation is that the US Worry-Free Portfolio along with the Australia Worry-Free Portfolio currently have a bit of weighting in technology stocks. Some technology stocks in recent times have been performing very well not only in Australia, but, more so, in the US market. We have seen some impressive returns by companies such as Apple, Alphabet, Netflix and the likes.

To see the impact of the technology stocks in the US market, open up VectorVest 7 US and click on the Viewers tab (call our support team on 1800303782 if you would like access to the US Market if you do not already have access). Per the left-hand column, click on the Sector Viewer to see some of the fastest moving sectors currently in the US. The sectors are sorted by Relative Timing (RT) in descending order. Notice that the Software and Computer sectors feature in the top 10 sectors as of Tuesday, 25 September. If you double click on Software it will bring up all the industries in this sector, notice there are currently 6 industries associated with the Software sector, accounting for 209 stocks. The Software (Business) industry accounts for 121 of the stocks. Close out of this window to return to the Sectors.

This time double click on the Computer sector to view all the industries here. At time of writing, there are 7 industries in this sector, with 117 stocks in total. The Computer (Services) industry accounts for 46 of the total stocks.

As you can see, there are plenty of technology stocks in the top 10 sectors in the US. What about Australia? Let’s do the same exercise. In VectorVest Australia, click on Viewers and click on Sector Viewer on the left. Notice the Information Technology sector features in the top 10. Double click on the Information Technology sector to bring up all the industries associated with this sector. As of Tuesday, 25 September, there are 3 industries accounting for 169 shares currently. The biggest contributor being the InfoTech (Software & Services) industry at 135 shares.

With so many shares to choose from which technology stocks stand out the best in the US and Australia? Check out the short video below to see how I analysed the technology stocks to narrow down the shortlist:
